Glad folks are enjoying the show. John's message in particular threw up two important points.

Firstly, the fact that people are nowadays willing to listen to such an ecletic mix is a welcome contrast to the chauvinistic stuffiness which was the English folk revival of forty years ago. Yes, I know. I was part of it. I was part of that tendency which held that preserving our own native traditions meant the ditching of absolutely everything else. It doesn't. And if we can understand that Harry Cox, Big Bill Broonzy and Yanka Rupkina were basically all saying the same thing - all giving vent to the same human emotions - then I think we are immeasurably richer for it.

Secondly, while I continually lament the passing of Belle Stewart, Fred McDowell etc, and the fact that we can no longer enjoy these artists in the flesh, the huge body of traditional music which is nowadays available on record is something wondrous to behold.

Enjoy.
