Thread Name: Lyr Req: Mary's Little Boy Child (Jester Hairston)
Subject: Mary's Little Boy Child -&- O My Lord
That Mass. Chronicle article seems to have one error:
[[Opportunities also expanded for Hairston during his acting career. His films credits included "The Alamo," "To Kill a Mockingbird," "In the Heat of the Night," "Lady Sings the Blues," "The Last Tycoon" and "Lilies of the Valley," for which he composed the song "Amen."]]
The song "Amen" was featured in the movie "Lilies Of The Field," not "Lilies Of The Valley."
(But I could swear I knew that song before that movie was made.)
I'd still like to get the lyrics to "O My Lord" which Boney M. sing as a canticle to "Mary's Boy Child."
It may be that those lyrics are in the DT, but if so, it's very misleading, since the "song" title in the DT is given as "Mary's Boy Child." That DT posting does have what appear to be lyrics to another song too, but it's not identified as a separate song or canticle.
Also, Boney M's recording is the only one I've ever heard that has both songs. Did Jester Hairston write "O My Lord" too?
