Ebbie--Ray Kroc was no Mac Donald. He was a salesman for milk-shake making equipment. One of his customers was the MacDonald's Bros. hamburger stand in San Bernardino, CA. 'Twas a very popular place. Mr. Kroc talked them into franchising their name and methods. Eventually he took over the company and grew it to what we see today.

The Krocs, especially Joan, Mrs. K., were very charitable. Mr. Kroc predeceased his wife. In a addition to RMH, she gifted, before her death, several Catholic charities as well as some others to the tune of millions of dollars.

All in all, I believe these were folks with a social conscience, and a pretty good hamburger. The trick is to get a fresh made sandwich, and eschew the secret sauce for mustard.
