This is really embarrassing but my manager just fessed up Friday. There were indeed two labs named Cookie and Cocoa in California who needed a home - in June. They were placed together and live happily corresponding regularly with their previous owners overseas.
He does not know who sent him the story, why or how because it came from a local school teacher.
I should have Snoped it when I first saw it but was told it was his friend. A search on the story shows that the poor woman is still being bombarded with offers to take the dogs as her plea circles the net.
Doesn't change the fact that we are all good people.
Now I will retreat quietly to the CELLAR! Sorry.
