Twice this evening some guy stole logs from the large pile I keep in my tiny front garden. The first time my lodger caught him in the act, and when challenged, he brazenly claimed he had my permission, then shot off before I could get outside. The second time both of us were out.

Once I can tolerate; twice on the same night, despite a challenge is cheeky (and a bit scarey). And I don't want my entire (not cheap) log supply disappearing!

I've had several ideas: putting/wedging obstacles in his path (dustbins and the like) that will make it difficult/noisy to get to the logs; hoping I spot him from inside the house, then following him and reporting him. Apart from these (plus my fantasies of barb-wiring the pile, or creating some elaborate trip/alarm mechanism) - anyone any ideas that are easy and not dangerous to implement?
