Back in the 1930s, Elizabeth Hawes, a fashion designer, proposed sensible clothing for men. When men made fun of women's fashions, she pointed out that no-one was forcing respectable men to wear 10 layers of cloth around their necks on summer days. There is no end to the foolishness of this world.

One might mention, for the sake of balance, the uniformly tight jeans women are impelled to wear these days, at least in my corner of the world (New England). I have no quarrel whatever with women showing off their asses, but it has reached the point where I find it refreshing to see (1) a woman in a dress or (2) a man showing off his ass.
