I should confess that most of my cars and trucks were off one year leases.
One must be careful that use had not been heavy, but that is not difficult to find out about on local leases.

Used vehicles (see Jack the Sailor's post) are (or were when I lived there) cheaper in the States, especially in larger population centers. After I transferred to Canada, on business trips back to the lower 48, I would see bargains that made me drool.
