Thread Name: christmas folk
Subject: christmas folk
Hey,
This thread has been deleted twice within 5 mins of me submitting it this evening - why?? It is just for the crack!! First time I forgot to sign in, so fair play - according to the goodly mudcat rules - shazam!!..no more!! Then I titled it,'come on folkies let's 'ave it at christmas!'..oops, was an agressive tone implied?...sorry!!
Anyway, hence the dull, inocous title and with a bit of luck 3rd time lucky!!

Inspired in some way by both the 'fire and ice' storm in an eggcup (er, can anyone rearrange the words, 'grapes' and sour' per chance?) and the traditionally omnipitent modern beat combo 'classics' of the season, what about a seasonal compilation cd (or bloody download) for next yuletide?

Sugestions - original artistes in brackets-

Jim Moray - (Simply having a ) Wonderful Christmas Time (McCartney)

Demon Barbers - Gaudete (Trad, but of course famously done by

Steeleye Span -RIP, Tim Hart)

John Tams - Stop the Cavalry (Jona Lewie)

Jon Boden & Dave Burland - Little drummer boy / Peace on Earth (Bowie / Bing Crosby)

The Unthanks - Last Christmas (Wham!)

Any more ideas?? Please Mr Mudcat - do not delete, or if so please provide an explanation.

I'm a lover not a fighter !

Peace and goodwill,

Charles
