A southern friend of mine is always taking me to task for the way we Yankees pronounce: pecan.
I love nuts, and gave them up when I was in weight watchers years ago, at their suggestion: WRONG MOVE. Not only are they delicious and filling (in SMALL handfuls) but they are healthy! Healthy as chocolate and blueberries, and lovely in a snack entwining all three. THANK THE LORD that something I like is healthy - lmao. And I've slowly, but steadily, been losing weight as I've incorporated nuts in my diet. (Of course, laying off the Big Macs did no harm either ;D )
Walnuts are probably best for the heart. But I love Brazil nuts, Macadamias, cashews, filberts, really just about any nut. btw Peanuts, as may have been mentioned, are not really a nut, they are a legume. I love them best when FRESH in the shell, and untoasted, which I can always find in roadside stands in Virginia, North Carolina, etc. but not up here.
