I know the kind you mean, Donuel--they are on the brink of not surviving and lash out in desperation because, to some degree, their own certainties are eroding fast.

There is one important zig-zag in the metaphysics, though. If you have subscribed to a common universe such as the apparent physical universe, and agreed to its spatiality and continuity and persistence and solidity, etc., and then try to jump up the pole to a high level of awareness and deny all those agreements without fully examining your own part in them, you are chasing a significance and claiming it is an actuality. People do this when they cannot look at existence straight on.

High metaphysical truth is a grand destination, but not so good as a hiding place, if you see my point. This is not an accusation in any way, just an observation about the general workings of the subject.
