In the early 90s, when the Middlewich Folk & Boat Festival was in its infancy, a nice lady called Sadie Dean used to come down (or should that be across) to Middlewich on a boat called the Straw Bear and regale us with stories of Plough Monday and the Straw Bear. I don't know if she was involved in organising festivities or just took an interest in folklore and suchlike matters.
In actual fact, its very probable that she still comes here every June, though I haven't seen her myself for quite a while as I'm a little out of touch with our festival these days.
Does anyone know her/know of her and what she's doing now?
