Thread Name: UK TV Shows of Sonny boy Williamson
Subject: RE: UK TV Shows of Sonny boy Williamson

With all due respect, the first reference I saw relating the name Sonny Boy Williamson to Rice Miller was in Melody Maker back in the second half of the 1950's. "Rice" was also a pseudonym, without double checking I believe he was baptised Alec and possibly his surname was Ford.
With regard to the mention above of Jimmy Powell and the Five Dimensions, it definitely was not them backing SBW. I was working with their agent and manager at the time. We also employed a very good friend of mine to chauffeur SBW around for about three weeks during his final stay in the UK. He would pick SBW up in the morning and drive off to the gig with Sonny Boy playing virtually non stop on the journey keeping time slapping the dashboard and taking the odd nip or two.

Great days.
