Thread Name: Lyr Req: Sam got a job on the railroad
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sam got a job on the railroad
My father used to sing this to us and now my children and grandchildren sing it
Sammy got a job on the railway
A job he'll never forget
It was greasing the lines that were rusty
With a lump of mouldy fat
Along came a runaway engine
Sammy stood on the track
He rolled up his sleeves
For he firmly believed
He could push that engine back
Nice little job for the undertaker,
canny little job for the tombstone maker
On the local cemetery day
Men were digging brand new grave
For Sammy snuffed it
He's gone to the golden shore
Hey ho he'll never come again
Coz he's gone where the flies won't bother him
