In NZ, they paint subsidiary signs on the road approaching things such as road junctions. They paint them in the order that you approach them, such as 'GIVE' followed by 'WAY." When the road has a slight incline so that you can see both messages, it reads 'WAY GIVE" in the normal way, top to bottom.
