Thread Name: Lyr Req: La Playa / Maria Isabel
Subject: RE: La playa (the beach?)
Hi fellows over there! You are talking about a neat and popular song created about 1967-68 by a spanish pop group named "Los payos". This song became quickly very popular and it was priced with the title "Song of the Summer" by that time. Then I was 25 years old (green!) and I'm very glad to check that 30 years later, one of the songs of my youth has still succes to nowadays young people separated from Spain by an ocean and some thousand of miles! I think that music is great putting people together. By the way, the name of the song you like so much is not "La playa" but "María Isabel" instead. Perhaps you would like to know that the name of the group author of such song, "Los payos", is the name that gipsy people use currently to denominate the people who are NOT gipsy. Best regards, "María Isabel" lovers!
