On this day in 1982 I was sitting on a plane in Washington DC waiting to take off for Maine. Suddenly there came an announcement over the intercom that Air Florida flight 90 just crashed into the Potomac river. We sat there listening to the gory details and I was wondering, What the hell am I doing here"? I was in the next plane ready to take off. Was that a close call?
