I think Simon was being facetious...just saying that to let the guy down gently, sort of? I know Susan Boyle is well over 28 and it wasn't American Idol, but I really don't think they have an age limit. I've older people in some of their tryouts.

Well, I guess I was wrong. This from Wiki: The eligible age-range for contestants is currently 16–28 years old.

Question: why did they let Larry tryout when he obviously wasn't 28?
