Unfortunately, the courts have already ruled that it's legal to lie in political ads.
Congress might be able to overcome that ruling via legislation -- but do they have the sense and the guts to do it?
Of course, Roberts (and probably Scalia & Thomas too) could probably be impeached on legitimate grounds and removed from the court. But if the Dems won't even go after Rove, Bush, Cheney, et al., don't hold your breath.
