My dogs provide me with comfort, attention, exercise, unconditional love, eternal forgiveness, amusement, protection, not to mention (as Richard Bridge observed) they would give their lives for me and the family. They ask little in return though we provide them with every comfort. Pretty good deal for me. They cannot be politicized.
