I remember the Jurassic typewriter, one that had a tab key guaranteed to send a cup of coffee across three desks and into the filing cabinet.... It had a gradient of about 1:4, with about 5 inches difference in height between the top and bottom rows. It also had fractions, something that has failed to make it through the succeeding ages....
