Y'lnow, the most important thing we did not mention about driving in slippery conditions is preparedness. There is nothing stopping anyone from going out to a local parking lot and practicing skids and rescues in nasty conditions.
Tonight I had the pleasure of driving home in fresh snow. Those around me moved fairly well. No one was braking, just slowing down with engine braking. Same thing when it came to ramps, just taking it easily and safely. The roads were not yet cleared and were probably slippery but no one was by the side of the road.
Safe driving means driving to allow for conditions.
