I heard a more informed and informative piece about this test on public radio today. The small gain in speed due to "shooting second" is more than negated by response time. Yes, test subjects who went second performed the tested activity 20 milliseconds faster, but it took them 200 milliseconds to respond to the "first shooter's" action.
