Back in '79 here, I started out for work one morning, and couldn't push the screen door open....and this was under a porch! We had over 2 ft. that night, but all it was was a heavy snow where the system had developed right over us and sat there. There was 'some' wind, but nothing like a blizzard. The whole DC area was shut down for 2 days.
