When his former girlfriend announced that she was pregnant, but did not intend to marry him, he should have locked her in a closet to be certain she did not escape with the child. After the birth, he would have had at least two alternatives: he could have kept her in the closet, or murdered her and concealed the body, to be sure she didn't remove the child from under his caring wing.
