I like fiction, I like it because it provides escape. To provide me with escape from here and now, it must create an *internally consistant* illusion of truth which enables me to suspend my disbelief. I just hate shoddy, lazy writing when the writers should know better. Any writer worth their salt will do some degree of background research on their subject matter.
