The album was called 'Scottish Republican and Anti Polaris Songs' and they were specifically written to represent the immediate times we were living in, hence their short term appeal. Hamish's magnificent 'Freedom Come All Ye' had been written previously and was included due to its merit and popularity (sung by Jack O'Connor) even though it did not refer to Republicanism or anti Polaris directly. There was no commercial sales outlet so it's surprising it sold atall. The Scottish establishment was totally against the sentiment of the songs hence the reason Pete Segger took the tapes to America and produced it there. I know Josh MacRae was banned from singing some of my material from the album in Glasgow.
