Chris "Yorkie" Bartram sends the following message:-
Really looking forward to next week's "mini-tour" of the deep South with Messrs Brookes and Weatherall. We're at The Royal Oak, Lewes on Thursday 18th; The Musical Traditions Club, Foley Street, London on Friday 19th and The Kit and Cutter, Deptford on Saturday 20th. Come and see us - "Bartram, Brookes and Weatherall".
We're looking forward to seeing lots of friendly faces at the Royal Oak. I hope they might include Bob Lewis who I haven't seen for far too long; Shirley Collins who liked my singing at Festival at the Edge a few years ago and various Young Coppers with whom I shared digs at Whitby. Ee, what a line-up of "floor spots" that would be!!
To which I replied:- Floor spots? Two weeks ago we had Peta Webb & Ken Hall, Ben Paley, Laura Hockenhull, Dave Arthur & Dan Stewart from Rattle on the Stovepipe, Rosie Davis and a host of other fine singers... many did not get a chance to sing. I asked Ben Copper to sing and his reply was something like "No Chance - not with the standard as high as this."
