Can you hear me above the workmen demolishing offices on the floor above?
As all the UK folkies are off at one festival or another I took it upon myself to listen to Folk on 2 on BBC radio while I did the washing up last night.
Their music sounded good to me (but what do I know?) especially considering their youth. The interview with Sam and Emily showed they still have their feet on the ground. They both sounded very mature about their success and were more articulate than the questioner (Mike Harding)despite an overuse of the adjective "brilliant" (old curmudgeon bit coming out again!)
As a Jesse Fuller fan I was amused to hear one of the girls (was it Emily again?) provided percussion by amplified clog dancing on plywood. (Jesse F does something similar on one of his records as well as all the other instruments).
Roger the Skiffler, (about to leave the Mudcat for 3 weeks, only 2 of them on holiday unfortunately), signing off. And coming up next, the weather, then our makeover expert asks "Should men use false nails? Should Bert dye his hair when it doesn't show under his yashmak", and finally- a skateboarding possum.
