Thread Name: Pacific NW Songs online
Subject: RE: Pacific NW Songs online
Mary, most of the songs posted so far are either in the public domain with permission of the singer, original songs with permission of the author and singer, or tracks of songs that have been released on CD with permission of the producer of the CD. We can't, of course, rip songs off CDs without permission, or post original songs without permission of the author and singer. If we make a mistake and someone objects, we will certainly remove the song from our web site (much like mudcat does).

Any submissions we would consider have to relate directly to the Pacific NW - its history, people, and places. Those submitting songs should check and explain any copyright and permission issues. Copyright issues also pertain to pictures, although these may be harder to define. Most from Wikipedia are either in the public domain or under "Creative Commons licenses." And photos from US Government agencies are in the public domain.

We can't afford to pay any copyright or licensing fees. We view this as a free sharing of songs where everyone agrees.

Cheers, S. in Seattle
