The reality is that people have a social life.

They meet and talk.

They like eaach other.

Sometimes, one or the other is not what they seem.

sometimes one of them is a con artist.

Sometimes one of them is a murderer.

Sometimes one is a rapist.

trusting somebody who is being nice to you is a natural thing for a human to do.

Knowing whether or not that guy is a rapist is not something that happens till after the fact.
