I and the hubby came down for the shanty workshop, and met up with a couple of our shanty-enthusiast friends. Cllr was in fine voice and I was impressed with his knowledge. Kate Early, Mrs. Malone, and her two lovely daughters also sounded great.

I particularly liked that they sang some Cyril Tawney songs which I haven't heard much around here. And there were ample opportunities to sing along--something that always wins points in my book. Sadly my husband and I had another commitment and had to leave immediately afterward, but my friends reported that the "Chorus Songs" workshop that cllr was involved in later was also a lot of fun.

Aside to Charlie Noble: There wasn't any other sea music at the U of C. festival that I know of, but there will be plenty later this month at the Chicago Maritime Festival on Feb. 27th.
