The question of "What was the student doing at home?" isn't any kind of justification for what the school administrator was doing. She is not a member of the police force. If there were a question about a student using or selling drugs, it would be the job of the police to get a warrant before spying on the student via the laptop webcam; one hopes that they would need convincing evidence to be granted such a warrant. This school administrator is way out of line and the parents and students in her district have good reason to be concerned.
