Thread Name: Lyr Req: I Wait for a Ship (Marie Galante/Weill)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Wait For A Ship (Marie Galante/Weill)
This verse is a version from an old "From Berlin to Broadway" collection of Weill from the 70's - the lp mentioned that the whistled opening melody was used as a signal by the French Resistance . . .

"I wait for a ship that's sailing to me,
That's calling to me,
Across a lonely sea.
A sea filled with tears that flow from my eyes,
Its sails billow on with my sighs.

And if the waves should try to sink it,
I'll never falter, not a bit.
I'll carry it home like a baby,
Back to Bordeaux, safe in my arms."
