Chinese pop is better than some form of music totally out of character with the place.
I were performing in a place I would try to get the folks to play my music or something similar to bring people in.

We only have one German place not too far away. House band was so bad I wrote a hymnal of Bavarian Oktoberfest songs. Recently new management has improved the food but little else.
