You can certainly make a case for that. Almost every Dachshund I've ever known had some odd character trait. But I could say that about all the people I've known too.

The one Dachshund we had who seemed totally normal to me was Oscar. He was only extreme about hunting. He was obsessed with hounding furry animals to their doom. As such, he was the perfect example of the traditional hunting Dachshund. I don't think it fair to call him "nuts" for being so dedicated to his particular talent. After all, that's what they bred them for.
