Besides no electricity, we had no phone as ours is through Comcast -- I think there's 4 hours worth of power on the modem. My antique laptop doesn't have a battery and I couldn't get wi-fi to work last time I tried (during Tom's surgery in October).

My cell, which I use only for travel (like while in Boston) or emergencies, won't work at home or in the vicinity, so I spent a lot of time in parking lots at MacFred's or Market Basket. Got smart Friday night and, while Tom was ordering supper at Pizza Spinners, went next door to Radio Shack and bought a car charger for the cell.

My car wasn't at home on Sunday because I was at WORK!

By the way, Fox Run Mall in Newington, NH (for all practical purposes, Portsmouth) was closed Friday because of no power. I got to Sears Optical where I work at 9 to discover that. Could use the ladies' room (thank goodness!) but not the POS system or the register, or the phones. From what I heard, the power was back on at 3 that afternoon. When I left it looked as if Sears was planning on selling generators no matter what.

I felt like doggie doo this morning -- I think last week finally caught up with me. (I'll spare you the details.) But I had to get dressed and drive to Lee Circle to phone in sick. And then my phone wouldn't work -- evidently something didn't register when Tom topped it off last week (every 90 days) after I got the email alert. Called in on the phone at Radio Shack and then went back out into the parking lot to top off AGAIN with Virgin Mobile. Sigh. (Ain't technology grand?)

Just to set the record straight on our weather -- it poured Wednesday and Thursday, but it was the wind Thursday evening that caused all the power outages. Ours went out 10:30 Thursday night after I had posted here. I got home early evening on Wednesday and didn't bother to light the woodstove because it really wasn't cold. Didn't bother to light it, actually, until just before I went to pick Tom up on Friday afternoon. But then Saturday morning we woke up to snow -- only and inch or two of heavy wet stuff. More annoying than anything. With water and mud underneath it, of course. Had no problem driving out of the driveway (200' uphill to the road) in my Subaru, but left some pretty serious ruts half way up, so currently not using the driveway -- it's Mud Season a bit early this year. (In New England this is a whole separate season -- one fine April sunshiney day when my car was stuck part way to the road and I was waiting for a tow truck, I watched my curious cat sink into the mud when he tried to approach the car...)

You guys in DC and New Jersey and Virginia, etcet have gotten all of our snow this year -- we've had very little. We did have some pretty cold weather a few stretches, but for the past week or so it's been in the 40s. We've had some flooding, though, because of rain and some roads are still closed due to both flooding and downed trees and wires.

I'm still feeling headache-ish, etc. but hope to feel better by morning. Having power back DOES help. It's late -- gotta go to bed.
