Remember that you need to keep ALL accounts- every record of payment and expenditure as regards your work - for 5 years. Don't let the smallest business- related invoice or receipt get lost. Keep your accounts monthly at worst, so you know exactly your position if someone asks. Employ an accountant to do your annual accounts and tax return.
