I saw him at the Isle of Wight. (Sort of, quite near the front, tired and a bit spacey, I think I had a great time) My mate and I had travelled by train to Portsmouth, got there very late, had a couple of beers, dodged the tars who were out for trouble, slept on a bench seat in the fortified walls, got woken up by a sub passing to find we were on a seat with water all around us,got the first ferry across to Ryde and then across to afton down for the do)

On the night Jimmi died I was in London and saw the newspapers on the Saturday evening. I was 21.

I was really sad about it. He changed my perception of guitar in pop music.

His death also marked a big change in my life. I still have the 45rpm that was put out in the few weeks after with Hey joe, All along the Watchtower and Voodo chille. I've also still got all the obits.
