Script Frenzy! (and yes, the exclamation point is part of the name) is run by the same people who run National Novel Writing Month (The office of Letters and Light).
Where National Novel Writing Month is about writing a novel's worth of prose (50,000 words) in 30 days, Script Frenzy! is about writing a feature film's worth of script (100 pages) in 30 days, and the thirty days in question are specifically the Month of April.
Movies may be the initial inspiration, but participants are welcome to write in any format of script they fancy -- from radio dramas, stage plays, T.V. episodes, even comic books: as long as what you're creating is a blueprint of sorts that you can hand off to others to build something with.
The Office of Letters and Light have a philosophy: That letting yourself take creative risks, learn by doing, and allowing yourself to make mistakes is more important than making something perfect and polished.
Along with running their websites that let people connect with, and encourage each other, they also provide resources to schools, so whole classrooms of kids can get involved in the creative process, free of charge.
Anyway, I'm excited to be signing up for this, this year, because this year, I'm finally a story with a disabled protagonist, which is something people have been asking about since I was in grade school, and I've been resisting, all this time (mostly because they've been asking about it -- psychology is tricky like that).
Anyway, I thought I'd just let Mudcatters know what my next looming big creative project is, since so many of you have provided help and encouragement through other creative projects, and life milestones.
I'll keep you guys updated on my progess too, if you don't mind.
