Thread Name: Lyr Req: I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside
Subject: RE: Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!
Rolf Harris did a version of this song - well he used the chorus at the end - on a childrens record many many years ago. I sing it occasionally - very occasionally!!

Tim Radford.

SUNDAY BY THE SEA. (via Rolf Harris)
Sunday morning wake up yawning have a cup of tea
Get the car out lets take Ma out, we can have a spree
Wake the pub up, get some grub up
Bring a crate for me, and when we've got the whole lot packed,
we'll shove the fishing tackle in the back.
And tear off down the road at 14 miles an hour
all the traffic piling up gor blimey what a shower.
There's swearing. braking, overtaking, what a liberty
But I wouldn't miss a Sunday by the sea.

There's lovely peaches on the beaches
laid out in the sun, with costumes slipping,
And birds all dripping and splashing everyone.
There's paddling, floating, fishing, boating
What a lot of fun, If there's a maiden in distress
I'll be the first to see her SOS.
So grab yourself a deckchair if you want a little doze,
Read the Sunday papers while the sand slips through your toes,
Ice cream trollies, kids with lollies, happy as can be,
Oh I wouldn't miss a Sunday by the sea.

Piles of litter, the winds turn bitter & the seas all getting rough,
Burning blisters, LOUD transisters
And if that is not enough, Now it's raining, stop complaining
pack up all the stuff and when we're half way back to town
you start to feel the back tyre going downÉ..
But get the spare out tear your hair out looking for the jack,
pushing pumping heaving thumping trying to get it back,
And by the time you get back home you find you've missed TV
Ð well was it worth it? NO
Well was it worth it? Ð YES,
Yes it's worth it for a Sunday by the sea.

I do like to be beside the seaside!
Oh, I do like to be beside the sea!
I do like to stroll along the prom, prom, prom,
While the brass band plays tiddleyompompom!
Oh, just let me be beside the seaside!
I'll be beside myself with glee.
There are lots of girls, besides,
That I'd like to be beside,
Beside the seaside, beside the sea.
