Tempest is based in Oakland, CA and plays quite a bit in this area. One of their founders and lead guitar is Norwegian born Lief Sorbye. I've heard Lief play with his acoustic group (Caliban) in a small pub, and with Tempest, the larger, louder, rock-folk version at festivals. They're talented musicians who've found a solid folk-rock niche. If you're looking for a "traditional folky" sound, you will probably be disappointed in Tempest.
