Now let me point people to Sandy Ives' (that's Dr. Edward Ives) studies of the lumbercamp songmakers Larry Gorman and Joe Scott. Sandy also recently published a superb study of "The Bonnie Earl o' Murray," and two song collections from New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Reading Sandy's notes is like chatting with him over a cup of coffee in his kitchen. I love his writing! Wish all scholars were half so human.
