Folks who wished that they could have attended the Chicago Maritime Festival this year might be interested to know that the organizers have been posting videos taken at the evening concert on YouTube. Posting is still in progress, but meanwhile here are some of my favorites so far from this year. Though I must say choosing just a few isn't at all easy!

Tom & Chris Kastle sing in French; I think this might be a voyageur song ("J'entend le Moulin"):

Rick Spencer singing a chantey ("A Long Time Ago"):

East coast/west coast collaboration-- Rick Spencer performing one of his original songs with the help of "Salty Walt" Askew ("Chaunticleer")

John Roberts makes it look soooo easy ("Escape of Old John Webb"):

Caryl P. Weiss singing "Saucy Sailor"

97th Regimental String Band, without strings ("Roll Alabama Roll"):

I've heard that the rest of the clips will be up by the end of the weekend. If you want to look at the "channel" generally for the festival to look for them, or prior years, it is here: http://www.youtube.com/user/wastrauss (pops)
