You're right Pavane - he's got so many to choose from! He is totally fearless and ruthless when it came to rhyming.When so many of us are driven by the "look" of the word/syllables in picking rhymes or scanning a thesaurus, he is guided by sound alone and lets his rich imagination fly laterally.

And his humour - so caustic amd merciless, especially when you consider the times. One of my favourite lines, which doesn't sound funny until you hear him growl it full of lascivious innuendo, from Oedipus Rex: "...'cause he LOVED his mother!"
