Now, when you say 'English dialects' to do mean dialects from England or do you mean dialects of the English language?

There's a world of difference. heh heh   :)

I wish I could name the book, but I can't. Nonetheless, I read a fascinating book a couple years ago about the forms of English worldwide. I was surprised to learn that there are 'descendants' of English in remote parts of the world that I couldn't recognize until the author demonstrated the similarities.

Fascinating!
