It was early last December,
As far as I remember,
I was stumbling down the street in sodden pride,
When I fell into the gutter,
Thinking thoughts I dared not utter,
And a pig come up and lay down by my side.

Two old ladies passing by,
Cast on me a jaundiced eye,
And I thought I overheard one of them say,
"You can tell a man who boozes,
By the company he chooses."
And the pig got up and slowly walked away!
