Adrian Edmondson & The Bad Shepherds
Adrian Edmondson, (Vocals, mandolin), probably better known as a comedian in The Young Ones, Bottom and The Comic Strip Presents is joined by pipe virtuoso Troy Donockley and fiddler Andy Dinan. Starting out in 2008 they took the festival scene by storm in 2009 with their own brand of Folk/Punk, culminating in their being nominated for "Best Live Act" in the BBC 2 Awards. They have aldo recently launched their CD "Yan, Tan, Tethera, Methera" to much critical acclaim.
Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts
Kat (ex Tiny Tin Lady, still with Rosie Doonan Band and GMO) and Jamie (also in Kerfuffle) need very little introduction after their appearance here at last year's festival. This hard working couple released their album "Shadows and Half Light" to rave reviews, and "wow" audiences wherever they appear. Don't be surprised to see Kat in one of her other musical guises during the festival.
Saturday 10th July.. 12 noon till 12 Midnight
French born Flossie who now lives in N E England captivates audiences with her "franglais" humour and beautiful singing. Recently toured with Show of Hands and accompanied by Keith Donnelly with Fairport Convention.
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Steve is renowned as one of the greatest songwriters in the world, with his songs played and recorded by artists the world over.
His latest album "Ziggurat" is a masterpiece of songs of love, greed, loss, war and gold. A master musician who's accomplishments include touring as guitarist with Ballet Rambert.
"Local girl" Edwina needs no introduction having lately had her song "Feels Like Home" featured in the Hollywood movie "My Sisters's Keeper". Her busy gig list included the Nanci Griffiths UK Tour 2010 as well as solo appearances throughout the UK
The Duncan McFarlane Band
Probably the best Folk/Rock band on the scene, never fails to get everyone to their feet with strong British folk songs overridden with pumping riffs and boundless energy. The highlight of many festivals from Shrewsbury, Sidmouth and Otley guaranteed to lift you up.
Paul is already a veteran of the acoustic music world, and his unique approach to his art which includes live sampling, building up layers of guitar and percussion during a song, rising to a truly amazing crescendo.
The Gerry Mcneice Orchestra
Multi-instrumentalist Gerry and his new band (which can be found in many combinations) consists of Gerry, Kat Gilmore (fiddle, mandolin and vocals) Ruth Wilde (double bass) and Liam McNeice (guitar). Musical influences, too many to mention. New CD "Small Town Boy" a must have!
The Dan Webster Band
Scarborough born, residing in York, Dan's band features Rachel Brown (cello), Ed Simpson (drums), Dave Percival (guitar and backing vocals), Foda (bass guitar) and Ali Lawrence (piano and organ). " An outstanding emerging talent " – Radio 2.
Recently released much acclaimed CD "Diamond Land".
Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Andy hails from York and has a deep rooted love of music. Having supported Phil Beer, Heidi Talbot, John McCusker and Boo Hewardine Andy has developed his own style. His album "Not Before Time" is a collection of 10 of his own songs written over a 4 year period and is a delightful listen.
Scarborough born Anna was born into a richly musical family with her grandfather being a concert pianist and her mother a jazz singer. It is then no surprise then that she became a multi-instrumentalist. To quote Vin Garbutt " Twice in the last few months I have had the honour of sharing the stage with Anna Shannon. She's a truly fine multi-instrumentalist, a great singer and as far as I am concerned, a major song writing talent. The clubs and festivals are yearning for what she has to offer"
Miles Cain is a writer, storyteller and musician based in York. Miles own songs are influenced by Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Billy Bragg and Bruce Springsteen, and he has several albums to his name. Miles has written for radio, newspapers and magazines including Radio 4, Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph and The Independent.
Two girls, Two guitars, Two voices, Helen Turner and Sharon Winfield causing a stir with their debut album "One". York based duo weave intricate patterns both vocally and instrumentally.
