Ballydehob Jazz Festival 2010
30th April to 3rd May

Hi everyone,

This year the festival is taking place between 30th April and the 3rd May. There'll be great music in the bars and the streets, a headline concert by Michael Buckley in the hall, and street entertainment and a traders fair where you can sample good food and fine craftwork whilst enjoying the buzz.

Michael Buckley is considered to be the finest saxophonist in Ireland today and we are proud to present him in concert. As well as frequent radio spots, Michael makes numerous television appearances, regularly works on film and television scores, and recently collaborated on recordings with Donovan, the Cranberrys, Jerry Lee Louis and Johnny Mathis.

"A Talent That Demands To Be Heard"

Playing with his Dublin Standard Time band a brilliant night to look forward to.

Andreas Varady the 12 year-old guitar prodigy from Limerick, will be playing in the initimate setting of Levis's bar on the opening Friday. Andreas is making a name for himself in the jazz world and is widely expected to be a major artist in the coming years. A legend in the making – here in Ballydehob!

Ballydehob native, Samuel Hudson, is also making a welcome return. Sam is based in Berlin and works as a freelance musician in Germany and the UK, and it's great
to have him back at the festival with his full quartet line-up.

Another exciting feature this year is the Festival Club Night to be held around Midnight on Sunday 2nd May – a fantastic opportunity to experience musicians from different backgrounds, different bands, and different styles, coming together to create something totally unique and spontaneous.

In all there are sixteen bands or artists performing over 30 gigs in different venues around the village and most of the performances are free. Good music, a relaxed carnival style, and a great way to enjoy the May bank holidaY
