The developement of Intrinsic Safety systems is said to be a result of the explosion at Senghenydd, where bell signals were initiated by the coalface miner touching his shovel across two bare wires running along the wall. We are now installing Intrinsic Safety systems at a massive chemical complex in China, belonging to a company from Barry Island!
Sadly 6000 coal miners a year lose thier lives in China, we are still trying to pass on the lessons learned at Senghenydd!
