Subject: The times they HAVE a'changed?
Hi,

A question from afar.

I have not lived in UK for many years.

I hear from a friend of mine, a man with a beautiful voice and a fine sense of tradition and a skilled sense of music and community, that UK Folk Clubs are not as i remember them.....

By its very nature, I have to generalise, but without going into great detail, I wondered what your contributors had to say.....

He reckons that the clubs are not as they used to be and he didn't like the changes.

He tells me that...... "Most performers turn up to do 'their thing'.... and show little or no attention to, or show interest in, other performers........, concentrating instead on their own intended performance. "They do their spot, and then leave." He tells me.

Perhaps i have a romantic notion, a romantic memory, but that to me is not what folklore is all about.

Is this the way that it is???
